Pinto Luz 'goes' to Nacional 2 for an "infrastructure x-ray"

The government's initiative aims to obtain an "x-ray of the infrastructure of the regions" crossed by the tourist road, along 738 kilometers, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing reported in a note sent to the Lusa news agency.
"'See to Do' is the motto of this ministerial itinerary along one of the country's most emblematic roads, which runs through the interior of Portugal from north to south," he added, indicating that the itinerary includes "stops and meetings with the mayors" of the municipalities served by National Road 2, with a view to "combating territorial injustice."
For Miguel Pinto Luz, "it is not enough to say that we have to combat inlandness, we need to know and listen to local agents firsthand to understand their needs and difficulties."
"This Government works every day to combat these inequalities, because we will only have territorial cohesion if we have territorial justice," said the minister, quoted in the note, highlighting the importance of understanding the "problems faced" by the aforementioned 35 municipalities, as well as the proposals made by the mayors, particularly in terms of infrastructure, housing mobility, among other areas.
With this route along the EN2, "we also aim to demonstrate the importance of having an integrated vision of infrastructures with the other social and economic dimensions of the regions", so that they "effectively serve the territories and the populations".
The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing's trip begins on the 21st, in Chaves, at KM 0 of the EN2, and ends in Faro on the 24th, at KM 738.
"This journey along Portugal's longest national road is the result of a challenge launched in July by the Association of Municipalities of the National Road 2 Route, which was naturally postponed until after the local elections," the Ministry explained.
Miguel Pinto Luz will be accompanied by the Secretary of State for Local Administration and Spatial Planning, Silvério Regalado, and also, in some sections of the route, by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Pedro Machado.
